Bishop Charles Masunungure is a Peacebuilding, Mediation and Community Dialogue Expert with vast experience in dispute resolution. He has unique skills acquired over a period of 30 years working as a Police Officer, Police Chaplain, Deputy Chaplain General in the Zimbabwe Republic Police, Commissioner in the National Peace and Reconciliation Commission, High Ranking Member of the Clergy and Peacebuilding Consultant for international organisations such as the Geneva Centre for Security Sector Governance (DCAF).

He is a member of the clergy with vast experience in marriage and family psychotherapy, community dialogue & leadership, mediation, counselling, ecumenical law enforcement chaplaincy, post conflict justice, healing and reconciliation.

As a Police Chaplain who was a life member of the USA based International Conference of Police Chaplains he acquired skills to handle cases that are multicultural and multireligious in nature and therefore has a strong sense of tolerance, sensitivity and respect for diversity including gender equality. He also worked closely with the Master of the High Court in the Administration of Estates for Deceased Police Officers. In these processes he was instrumental in resolving disputes between surviving beneficiaries and families of deceased officers.

As a Commissioner in Zimbabwe’s National Peace and Reconciliation Commission he dealt with complex conflicts that required sharpened expertise in high level engagements of key opinion leaders, civil society actors, Government and multi-political party stakeholders. He possesses excellent interpersonal skills and has a demonstrable ability to listen to all levels of interlocutors.

He is the Founder & Executive Director of Zimbabwe Peacebuilding Trust, a Non-Governmental Organisation that provides community, provincial and national capacity building and dialogue facilitation for state and non-state actors for the promotion of social cohesion and peaceful co-existence.
